TEACHER BIO
Anastacia Julian grew up in Brooklyn, NY, where she began her dance training at the age of 5 at Cultural Crossroads Dance Theatre Workshop. Her training began with a concentration in Ballet, Modern and Tap. Throughout the years, Anastacia has expanded her training adding Modern, African, and Jazz, keeping her well rounded and versatile as a dancer. During middle school, high school and college years, Anastacia attended performing arts schools, as well as danced outside of the school with companies Creative Outlet and Pure Elements where she took part in several dance showcases and began her development as a performer. She also began her journey with creating choreography. In college Anastacia premiered 2 works at the Post Concert Dance Company showcase. It was then that she knew there was a fire inside of her waiting to put together the movement she had always envisioned into powerful and defining pieces. In 2015, Anastacia graduated from college with a BFA in dance from Long Island University Post Campus previously named Long Island University, CW Post.
After college, Anastacia branched out and journeyed into the modeling/commercial dance world. Anastacia modeled and danced in the Fashion Roars Theatrical Fashion Show, a show which helped to raise funds for HIV/AIDS for children in South Africa for Generation Ubuntu. She also danced in an American Apparel Spec Commercial, and a Canon Camera Brand Commercial directed by Jeff Sousa. In addition Anastacia began teaching in both public and charter schools. She taught Step with the Art Of Stepping, as well as dance in select schools in the Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Harlem areas. Anastacia has danced in the play JD Lawrence presents “Your Husband is Cheating On Us” that was featured on Bravo TV.
With Anastacia’s focus on the commercial dance world, she has been currently focused on hip-hop although she continues to train in multiple styles of dance. She has danced with a few small hip hop dance crews and competed at several competitions such as World of Dance, Prelude and countless others. Anastacia has also danced in Lil Mama’s video “Shoe Game” the dance version.
Working as a dance teacher has helped Anastacia strengthen her teaching skills and she loves the growth, energy and passion that her students put into classes constantly. Working as a dance teacher, Anastacia created a curriculum for the school year that gave the students both background history of dance with (but not limited to) important dance figures of the community and allowed the students to have fun, create and learn. More and more, Anastacia continues to train in dance, build her brand and work on her craft so that she can be an example to her students and those who look up to her.
Currently, as a Co-Founder of Ntrinsik Movement (Dance Company), Anastacia is ready to set out on this new journey with her company reaching new heights this season. Co-Founded in 2014, Ntrinsik Movement was born and since then, Anastacia has grown and evolved as a person, a dancer/performer, a teacher, a choreographer, and a creator. She is thankful for all the blessings and opportunities that she has had in her career and strives to be the best she can be.
